THE POWER OF INCLUSION

Are you an employer seeking to attract and engage today's workforce? Be ready to adapt, suggests new research from the Deloitte University Leadership Center for Inclusion and the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative.

What employees want

A recent Deloitte survey of more than 1300 full-time employees revealed that:

  • Eighty percent of respondents cited inclusion as an important consideration when choosing an employer.
  • Thirty-nine percent reported they would leave their current organization for a more inclusive culture.
  • Twenty-three percent indicated they have already left an organization for a more inclusive culture.

What attributes matter

Authenticity, flexibility and purpose are the attributes most valued in an inclusive culture, and to attract and retain today's top talent, organizations must remain laser-focused on fostering a culture that promotes these qualities.

"We have seen from our research that today's workforce does not want inclusion to be just an add-on, but a fundamental aspect of corporate culture, embedded throughout their organization. Our research provides critical guidance on how organizations can meet the needs of the workforce now and in the future." - Deb DeHaas, Chief Inclusion Officer, Deloitte US.
