She and her team are charged with strengthening State Street’s reputation, raising brand awareness and engaging stakeholders globally, with the ultimate goal of helping to support revenue and business objectives of the company. Hannah, who has been with State Street for nearly two decades, was recently elevated to the global financial firm’s Management Committee, its senior-most strategy and policy-making team.

As Chairman, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Ariel Investments, John Rogers leads the research and portfolio management efforts of the company, working in tandem with Senior Vice President and Director of Research Tim Fidler and Vice Chairman and Head of Investment Group Charlie Bobrinskoy. President Mellody Hobson oversees all of the other aspects of the business, drawing Rogers into client service and new business development opportunities as needed. Additionally, John is the Lead Portfolio Manager for Ariel Fund (he has been at the helm of this fund since its inception in 1986!), as well as the Co-Portfolio Manager for Ariel Appreciation Fund, Ariel Small Cap Value, Ariel Small/Mid Cap Value and Ariel Mid Cap Value.
Ariel maintains an office in Chicago focused primarily on small- and mid-cap value investing, which the company has done for its entire 34-year-history, as well as a five-year-old office in New York City that houses the international and global team. The firm manages assets totaling almost $12 billion dollars and maintains a base of nearly 90 employees.

William F ‘Ted’ Truscott
Columbia Threadneedle Investments
As the CEO of Columbia Threadneedle Investments, the asset management subsidiary of Ameriprise Financial, Ted Truscott is on the move constantly, and he’s fine with that. Truscott is responsible for overseeing the company’s retail, institutional and owned asset portfolios, including the Columbia and Threadneedle families of mutual funds, collective funds, separate accounts, alternative investments and ETFs. He is also a member of the Ameriprise Executive Leadership Team.
Columbia Threadneedle’s assets under management total approximately $454 billion and its workforce numbers some 2,200 people worldwide, including approximately 560 in Boston, over 600 in London, and nearly 700 in Minneapolis. Other employees operate from a variety of offices in key markets around the world. It’s not surprising, therefore, that Truscott frequently finds himself traveling to Europe, the Middle East and Asia, all of which he finds invigorating. Continue reading

I recently launched a new interview series, ‘C-Suite Insights,’ conversations that not only highlight the careers of some of the industry’s top CEOs and senior executives but also feature their insights and advice.
One of the first executives that I sat down with was Kai Sotorp, CEO of Manulife Asset Management and Global Head of Wealth and Asset Management at Manulife. As CEO and President, Sotorp serves as Manulife’s internal asset manager, and as global head of wealth and asset management, he oversees the company’s business with its affiliates.
